About David Rude, C.P.C., M.A.

As a member of the International Coaching Association community, I am continually advancing my strengths as a Certified Professional Coach. I received my Master's in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and I have more than 25 years of real-world experience, including instructor of Human Development and psychology at Folsom Lake College, American River College, Lake Tahoe Community College and Salt Lake Community College, Director of Counseling at Jesuit High School in Carmichael, CA and at St. Francis High School in Mountain View, CA. I am a published author on a variety of subjects related to psychology and education, have developed nationally recognized literacy programs, and am one of National University's most admired instructors.

I created the "Who Am I? Project" (Copyright 2008 David A. Rude Life Coaching) and have had much success using it with a variety of ages, individuals and groups. The "Who Am I? Project" is a part of the life coaching program I currently offer. The program involves answering approximately 15 - 20 questions that delve into the core of who you are, your origins, your passions, your heroes and so on. The responses lead to much discussion that help reveal (to the participant) many important truths and insights.

I have many gifts that I use as a Life Coach, including a highly-developed intuition and a strong sense of ethics and values. I have been a teacher and counselor for more than twenty-five years and in that time I have helped many people realize their potential and the beauty in their lives.

My clients live and work throughout the United States and Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand. No matter what walk of life they come from they are all interested in moving forward in their personal and/or professional lives.

About Life Coaching

How is Coaching conducted?

  • The structure of coaching is flexible.
  • Coaching is usually conducted in person unless the client lives more than fifty miles from the Folsom office, then it is conducted over the telephone at a convenient time.
  • We will design a coaching arrangement that meets your individual needs and schedule.
  • Sessions may be focused on one specific goal or challenge you are facing, or on a much broader set of personal or professional issues.
  • Appointments are made in advance and you should contact me at least 24 hours in advance if you will need to cancel or reschedule. If you do not cancel or reschedule in advance you will be billed for the session.
  • There is unlimited e-mail and telephone support available to you in the time between our meetings.

What are the benefits of coaching?

  • Clarify the vision of what you really want.
  • Set effective goals and priorities that honor your values.
  • Devise action plans and strategies that get results.
  • Move through obstacles and procrastination.
  • Keep focused, productive and on track.
  • Advance (more) quickly in your life and/or career.
  • Create a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Meetings and discussions with your coach may include benefits such as:

  1. Creating space to reflect upon your experiences from a more objective perspective;
  2. Having a professional thinking partner who can ask probing questions to facilitate your most resourceful thinking;
  3. Increasing awareness of your personal patterns of behavior - what works well for you and what may need to change.
  4. Increasing awareness of your previous blind spots, generally and in specific situations;
  5. Developing new strategies to achieve your goals and new skills to implement those strategies;
  6. Identification of additional resources to support you in the achievement of your developmental goals.
